I was the first one awake this morning so I did a little bit of poking around my dad's garden. When I lived here it was my domain and I miss it. All the poking around in dirt was just as important to me as knitting. The lack of it may be why the knitting has ramped up in the last two years after I moved to a climate inappropriate for gardening. I planted this Columbine the summer I moved away and it's gotten bigger but kept the fantastic colour. Usually I bring something fairly simple for my travel knitting and socks do fall into the simple category. This time the socks might not end up being simple since I've started Marie Antoinette
(ravel it). Not the most effortless pattern but it's been interesting just getting started.
The cuff is knit flat and then grafted together before you pick up the stitches to start knitting in the round. I've gotten just past the first chart so I'm about to embark on the leg chart. Most of this is probably as interesting as dirt but it's been a great way to keep my mind working as with most of Anne Hanson's patterns.
