All indications are that the shawl has arrived at it's destination so I feel safe posting. I knit this for AJ from a skein of Sundara Sock in Cabin Hideaway that she sent me. As requested it's knit exactly as the pattern calls for but with two extra repeats. The yarn had two knots which was a bit disappointing and lead to some fiddly finishing work - that many ends in a single skein shawl is a bummer.
I knit this same pattern last summer for my mother and once again it proved to be simple and easy. It was great as a take along since one reapeat and I had the lace chart memorized. I did hit a little snag when after a day of knitting and reaching the sixth reapeat I realized my needles were a size small. So I ended up frogging and quickly knitting everything again. Hopefully AJ enjoys her new shawl and I can't wait to see my socks. It's interesting to be part of a swap where the knitting is being traded instead of goods. Being handed another person's skein of yarn and their dreams for its potential is really interesting and a bit intimidating. I've done my best and with any luck she'll be happy!
just in case...
