Warmth in the North

so many things

    Last Monday while traveling from BC to Ontario I though that other than a wedding on Saturday there wasn't really much on my plate for the next week and a half.  In the usual way of things the last seven days have been jam packed with activity.  There are no pictures of the center pieces that I helped with, the midnight buffet, my nana's newly painted ceiling or much of anything. 

    Instead may I present the last of my swoon blocks for the baby blanket?  I've been assure that the colour scheme will work perfectly for the new baby and more importantly the baby's parents.  The full top is actually complete and just waiting for quilting so with any luck it will be finished before the baby.  Although I'm tempted to take it to my long arm quilter to give it an extra special finish.

    I'm going the spend as much time as possible sitting in the garden hanging out with the birds.  It's really hot and muggy here so my time outside is limited.  I'm not sure if your body can lose it's ability to deal with heat and humidity but if it can mine has given up.  I guess living in a cool dry place for five years can have an effect on a person.

    It's gotten a lot colder over the last few days which does make me a little cranky.  When it's this cold I'm too much of a wimp to go out for a walk and just want to stay inside all the time.  To remind myself that spring will come eventually I grabbed a bunch of cheery daffodils at the grocery store yesterday.  They're starting to bloom and work their magic on me already.

    Last night at work I got a phone call from the fire department advising me that the town was about to set off high altitude fireworks.  Since it was just a random Wednesday in the middle of October I asked why.  The nice firefighter on the other end of the phone informed me it was to celebrate the new arena.  A half hour fireworks display (better than what we had on Canada Day) for the new arena.  Once again I feel like a stranger in a strange land but the fireworks were impressive so that's good enough for me.

everyday simple

    Today was filled with chores and braving of the grocery store on the Friday before Thanksgiving.  As a reward for manging to get things done on no sleep I picked up some flannel for another pair of pajama pants.  If everything goes according to plan I'll sew them this weekend in preperation for the comeing cold.  I'd better get back to the laundry so it'll be done before I need to get to sleep.
